It is our privilege to serve a wonderful and marvelous God who never asks of our ability or inability – just our availability. It is further heartening to see the lost receive Jesus as their personal Savior. In Praise over the last six months, we saw three persons knowing the Lord as their personal Savior.
In our previous January-June 2006 Mission Report, we mentioned that Sister Chai Hong first invited Sophia and her daughters, Christine and Grace to Praise. That was on Sunday, 4 June. They have been attending the church regularly. She also joined our last two church outings.
They have also begun to see the true Light! Sophia related to me that on one occasion, they were frantically searching for a missing article at home. On the verge of giving up, Christine, her eldest daughter, suggested that they pray to the Lord Jesus as she recalled being taught by the Sunday School teacher to pray for even the smallest matters in our lives. This time round, they did find the article. This incident showed Sophia and her children that our God do answer prayer. We are sure that the seed of belief in Jesus Christ was planted in their hearts already.
On Monday, 2 October 2006, after the Weekly Bible Study, I felt a strong urge to witness to her. She readily accepted the Lord. We rejoiced in the salvation of another soul.
Our recent visitor, Sister Siew Peng and her son have surely found a place of worship in Praise. Praise made them feel very much at home. Then the blessed surprise came. Sister Siew Peng shared her heart’s desire for her husband, Teck Huat, to receive Jesus. Teck Huat is a cynical person and will not accept spiritual things. On Tuesday, 17 October 2006, he received the Lord. Please continue to pray for his health. Years of medications to suppress his long term illness have made him susceptible to common ailments such as cough and cold. This would last for many weeks. Even a change of temperature would affect him adversely. This has affected his ability to hold down full-time employment. It also tires Sister Siew Peng whenever he suffers an epileptic seizure. Pray also for Sister Siew Peng that she will continue to draw strength from the Lord.
Thank you for praying for Zi Wei’s salvation this number of years. During the early years, she would deal with us at arms length when it comes to the Gospel. She was simply not interested. However on Christmas Eve Worship Service, Praise received a wonderful Christmas gift from the Lord. Again, I felt a burden to witness to her. It was as if the Lord was prompting me that her salvation is drawing near. She readily received Jesus as her Savior. Surely, years of prayers have not been wasted – “Daily prayers will diminish our cares.” When we told Brother Tong, her husband, the good news, he was joyously delighted. Please pray for them both to be baptized.
Since June 2006, we started a weekly Bible study with the homemakers. During the first few weeks, we only had Sisters Vina and Maureen. We did not let our patience run out but stayed faithful to what the Lord intended for us to do. Now, we had Sisters Chai Hong and Sophia (“yes the Sister who just got saved”) in the group. We hope to have more added to the Weekly Bible Study group. Please pray with us on this.
We have learnt to place all our situations and challenges in God’s hands. We are confident that He is able to keep that which we have committed to Him. We will continue to seek His face and ask that you pray for and with us in this wonderful ministry that the Lord has entrusted us with.
God bless you all.
Yours fellow co-laborers in Christ Jesus
